Dental alginate impression material is a hydrocolloid-based, irreversible elastic impression powder used across virtually every branch of clinical dentistry. When mixed with water at a defined powder-to-water ratio, potassium alginate reacts with calcium sulfate dihydrate to form a dimensionally stable, flexible gel that faithfully reproduces the three-dimensional morphology of dentition, soft tissue, and mucosal contours.
This product is formulated as a chromatic, dustless alginate — two performance upgrades over conventional white alginate that directly address the most common chairside pain points: inconsistent set-time judgment and operatory dust exposure.
A single-component, pre-weighed powder impression material supplied in resealable foil pouches. No secondary catalyst or liquid activator is required. Instructions for Use
1. Pre-Impression Preparation
Select tray size: Choose a tray providing 3–5 mm clearance between tray walls and the dental arch. Perforated stock trays are recommended; use adhesive or rim-lock if required.
Measure powder and water: Use the enclosed measuring cup: one level scoop of powder (~14 g) per 14–16 mL of water. Use water at 18–22°C for Normal Set; cooler water (16–18°C) extends working time in warm climates.
2. Mixing Procedure
Dispense water first, then add powder to the rubber mixing bowl.
Mix vigorously with a wide-bladed spatula, stropping against the bowl wall for 30–45 seconds until a smooth, lump-free, glossy consistency is achieved. Avoid incorporating air.
Observe mixing color: Material should display the characteristic mixing color. If no color is present, check batch expiry and storage conditions.
3. Impression Taking
Load the tray in one bulk load. Optionally apply a thin layer to critical areas (gingival margins, furcations) with a gloved finger before seating.
Seat the tray firmly with uniform, gentle pressure. Do not move the tray during setting.
Monitor color change: When the material transitions to set color, maintain tray position for an additional 15–20 seconds before removal.
Remove the impression: Break the peripheral seal with a finger, then remove with a single, firm snap motion parallel to the long axis of the teeth.
4. Post-Impression
Rinse under cool running water to remove blood, saliva, and debris.Disinfect with a compatible disinfectant (glutaraldehyde or 0.5% sodium hypochlorite) per manufacturer's contact time. Rinse again.
Pour promptly with Type III or IV gypsum stone within 5–30 minutes. Store in a sealed humid bag if immediate pouring is not possible.
Dispose as clinical waste per local regulations after pouring. Single-use only.
Tip: Keeping mixing water temperature consistent is the single most effective way to stabilize gel time across operators. A dedicated water-temperature thermometer is recommended for high-volume practices.

1. Clinical Precautions

3. Disposal
